The Fourth Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZJU4H) is a provincial tertiary Grade A hospital directly affiliated with Zhejiang University. Since its opening in October 2014, it has maintained an A+ rating in the performance appraisal of national tertiary public hospitals for 6 consecutive years, ranking among the top 5% nationwide and No. 1 in central and western Zhejiang. In 2020, with approval from the Ministry of Education, Zhejiang University established the International School of Medicine and the International Institutes of Medicine based on ZJU4H, initiating the construction of a world-class international medical center under a tripartite collaborative model.
ZJU4H has 2,872 employees, including 1 academician, 12 national-level talents, 29 provincial-level talents, and 99 postdoctoral fellows. Taking discipline development as its cornerstone, it has developed characteristic specialties including the Lung Cancer Center, Reproductive Medicine Center, Surgical Center, Cardiovascular & Vascular Center, Trauma & Critical Care Medicine Center, Orthopedic Center, Neuroscience Center, and Urology Center, with its medical technologies leading the region. It has obtained certifications from national-level institutions such as the National Trauma Rescue Alliance Construction Unit, National Chest Pain Center, and National Demonstrative Stroke Prevention and Treatment Center.
As the fourth clinical medical school of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, ZJU4H offers 27 doctoral programs and 27 master’s programs, with 45 doctoral supervisors and 70 master’s supervisors. Currently, it educates 166 doctoral students and 287 master’s students. The International School of Medicine admits 150 international students annually. In scientific research, it is a research-oriented hospital cultivation unit, with 2 disciplines ranked among the top 100 STEM disciplines globally. Over the past three years, it has undertaken 87 national-level projects (including 16 key national projects) and published 94high-impact papers in journals such as Nature, Science, Cell, and the British Medical Journal. It also hosts the Provincial Key Laboratory of Precision Diagnosis and Treatment for Lung Cancer, the Provincial Key Laboratory of Intelligent Design and Development for RNA Therapeutics, the Zhejiang-Sweden Joint Laboratory for Cancer Immunology, and the Zhejiang-Denmark Joint Laboratory for Regenerative and Aging Medicine.
