Profile:

  He graduated from the School of Medicine at Zhejiang University in 1990 and received his master’s degree in 1993. In 1996 and 1998, he completed short-term training programs at the Department of Optometry at Fudan University in Shanghai and the Hong Kong Polytechnic University. He was promoted to Chief Physician in 2007. With 35 years of experience in clinical practice, research, and teaching in ophthalmology, he possesses extensive clinical expertise and has worked for an extended period at one of the world’s most renowned ophthalmic hospitals, the Bascom Palmer Eye Institute. In 2009, he assumed the role of Deputy Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine (overseeing teaching and research). From September 2016 to September 2020, he concurrently served as the first Director of the Department of Ophthalmology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University. He demonstrates clear clinical reasoning, and possesses highly skilled surgical techniques. He has repeatedly led and participated in the diagnosis and treatment of complex and severe eye diseases. He specializes in various refractive surgery procedures, the diagnosis and treatment of complex corneal diseases, complex cataract and glaucoma surgeries, and intraocular lens implantation. He is also an expert in the fitting of contact lenses (including RGP and OK lenses) and the management of related complications. He was among the first experts in China to perform laser refractive surgery for myopia, having performed over 50,000 such procedures. and was a key figure in the Asia-Pacific region’s earliest (1996) implementation and research of ICL surgery (publishing a clinical research paper in a top international ophthalmology journal in 2012). In 2001, he led the development of China’s first RGP lens, and in 2011, he was a principal investigator in the clinical validation of China’s first batch of OK lenses. He is currently a certified specialist in both SMILE/Excimer laser and ICL procedures.
