He is currently the Director of Cardiothoracic Surgery and Director of the Cardiac Center at the Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital, affiliated with Zhejiang University School of Medicine. He has been engaged in clinical work for 35 years. He graduated from the First Military Medical University and has completed advanced training at renowned medical centers in China, including the Fok Ying Tung Cardiac Center in Guangdong Province, the Shanghai Children’s Medical Center, and Beijing Anzhen Hospital. Since 2004, he has worked at several medical centers in Australia. In June 2010, he was recruited by Zhejiang University and Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital through the China Exchange and Cooperation Program of the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons. He performs an average of over 400 cardiac surgeries annually. To date, he has independently performed over 300 robotic cardiac surgeries; over 1,500 minimally invasive cardiac valve surgeries; over 900 surgeries for aortic diseases ; over 1,100 surgical treatments for atrial fibrillation; over 1,000 surgical treatments for coronary heart disease; over 100 heart and lung transplants; and approximately 3,000 complex thoracic surgeries.
