The Department of Urology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University is a comprehensive unit dedicated to medical care, teaching, and research, and is one of the hospital’s key clinical departments. The department boasts an outstanding faculty composition, currently comprising one Zhejiang University Qiushi Distinguished Physician, two doctoral advisors, three master’s advisors, seven senior-level professionals, and three postdoctoral researchers. All physicians in the department hold master’s degrees or higher from renowned universities in China.

Guided by the principles of “precision diagnosis and treatment” and “maximizing organ function preservation,” the department has established four major subspecialties: urolithiasis, oncology, urinary incontinence, and andrology. Its clinical capabilities rank among the top in the province. The department handles approximately 75,000 outpatient visits annually, admits over 4,000 inpatients, and performs more than 3,000 surgical procedures each year. The department possesses extensive experience in performing highly complex surgical procedures for difficult and complex tumors. Through seamless collaboration among multidisciplinary teams, it has successfully completed numerous challenging surgeries, including the resection of giant pheochromocytomas, minimally invasive surgery for bilateral pheochromocytomas, and the resection of giant pelvic tumors, fully demonstrating the hospital’s strong clinical capabilities.

Department members have received one Third Prize in the Zhejiang Provincial Natural Science Award, led seven National Natural Science Foundation projects and six provincial/ministerial-level research projects, secured over 5 million yuan in government and industry research funding, and published more than 50 SCI-indexed papers. The department has admitted 6 doctoral students and 20 master’s students from Zhejiang University. It has hosted numerous academic events, including the Zhejiang Provincial Annual Conference on Integrated Traditional and Western Medicine in Urology, the Central Zhejiang Urological Oncology Summit Forum, the Jinhua City Annual Conference on Urology, and the “Renowned Doctors Reaching the Grassroots” initiative organized by the Urology Branch of the Zhejiang Medical Association.
