The Eye Medical Center of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine is a benchmark ophthalmology center in central Zhejiang, established by Zhejiang University with clinical diagnosis and treatment as its core mission and scientific research and education as its supporting pillars. The team comprises 4 chief physicians and 1 associate chief physician. All team members hold a master's degree or higher, and five of them hold doctoral degrees. The center receives nearly 140,000 outpatient visits and performs more than 5,000 surgeries annually, and it also undertakes the teaching of undergraduate and postgraduate students at Zhejiang University School of Medicine.
Over the past five years, the center has led 2 projects funded by the National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), 2 key provincial projects, 2 provincial and ministerial-level research grants, and 15 departmental-level projects. Its members have chief-edited 3 academic monographs, been granted 10 patents, and published 39 SCI-indexed papers.
In terms of equipment, the center is equipped with a full range of internationally advanced ophthalmic diagnostic and surgical devices, including the first ARTEVO 750 digital navigation surgical microscope in Zhejiang Province and the first VISUMAX 800 all-femtosecond laser system deployed at a public hospital in Zhejiang.
The center provides comprehensive diagnosis and treatment for both common and difficult ophthalmic diseases, with a focus on high-precision, technically demanding specialized procedures. Its scope of services covers complex vitreoretinal microsurgery, high-end refractive surgery for myopia, refractive cataract surgery, comprehensive diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, orthokeratology lens fitting, and IPL treatment for dry eye. The center is committed to delivering high-quality, personalized ophthalmic care to patients across all age groups.
