The Department of Stomatology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine is a key development department within the hospital. It fully integrates the regional characteristics of Yiwu in central Zhejiang with Zhejiang University’s academic and technical strengths, as well as its own equipment advantages. The department currently has 18 physicians, including 4 with senior professional titles and 7 with intermediate professional titles; all staff hold master’s degrees or higher. The department’s clinical capabilities and supporting facilities are at the forefront within the province. It features multiple subspecialties, including Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, Endodontics, Orthodontics, and Implantology, enabling the department to proficiently diagnose and treat common oral diseases while also managing various complex and challenging cases. The department currently serves as a national-level training base for standardized residency training in general dentistry, with trainees hailing from across the central Zhejiang region.
The department advances medical care, education, and research in tandem. It currently leads or participates in several provincial and ministerial-level research projects, as well as over 10 departmental-level projects. The team has published more than 10 high-impact SCI papers and dozens of articles in core domestic journals. We place a strong emphasis on talent development and departmental culture building. Several of our physicians have recently completed short-term study visits to renowned universities in Japan and the United States, and we have established long-term plans for overseas training. Additionally, leveraging the hospital’s platform, we maintain close academic exchanges with the University of Alberta (Faculty of Medicine) in Canada and Shuanghe Hospital in Taiwan.
