The Department of Breast Surgery is a leading center in the region, a member of the Zhejiang Provincial Multidisciplinary Network for Breast Cancer, and a participant in the Zhejiang Breast Cancer Committee of the Chinese AntiCancer Association (CACA-CBCS). We are dedicated to providing comprehensive, patient-centered care for all breast disorders, from benign conditions to advanced malignancies.

Clinical Services

We manage the full spectrum of breast diseases. For benign conditions, we treat fibroadenomas, intraductal papillomas, galactoceles, and other common lesions. For malignant diseases, we specialize in early diagnosis and individualized treatment of breast cancer. Our surgical portfolio includes nipple-sparing mastectomy (NSM) with immediate reconstruction using a pedicled latissimus dorsi myocutaneous flap – a procedure in which we have accumulated experience in more than 1,000 such cases. We also offer immediate or delayed breast reconstruction with implants, transverse rectus abdominis myocutaneous (TRAM) flaps, and deep inferior epigastric perforator (DIEP) flaps. For appropriately selected patients, we perform oncoplastic breast-conserving surgery to achieve both oncological safety and optimal cosmetic outcomes.

Specialized Conditions

We have particular expertise in treating refractory locally advanced breast cancer, plasma cell mastitis, gynecomastia, and macromastia requiring reduction mammoplasty. Our multidisciplinary approach ensures that even the most complex cases receive thorough evaluation and customized treatment strategies.

Surgical Expertise

Routinely, we perform ultrasound-guided vacuum-assisted biopsy, segmental mastectomy, lumpectomy, modified radical mastectomy, breast-conserving surgery, and sentinel lymph node biopsy. In parallel, we are at the forefront of breast oncoplastic techniques, including immediate/delayed reconstruction and endoscopic surgery for gynecomastia. Our team also offers super-microsurgical lymphaticovenous anastomosis to treat peripheral lymphedema, a common complication following breast cancer therapy.

Comprehensive and Multidisciplinary Care

Beyond surgery, we provide personalized systemic therapies – neoadjuvant chemotherapy, adjuvant chemotherapy, endocrine therapy, and targeted therapy – based on the latest evidence. Our department maintains a regular multidisciplinary team (MDT) collaboration with medical oncology, radiology, ultrasound, and pathology. These weekly conferences allow every patient to benefit from a consensus-based treatment plan, aimed at improving long-term survival and enhancing quality of life.

Our Team and Collaborations

Our team comprises 5 physicians, all holding master’s or doctoral degrees, including one chief physician and two associate chief physicians. Our senior staff have completed advanced training at prestigious domestic and international medical institutions. We maintain strong academic and clinical partnerships with Tianjin Medical University Cancer Hospital, Xinhua Hospital of Shanghai Jiao Tong University, and the First and Second Affiliated Hospitals of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, ensuring that our patients have access to the latest knowledge and techniques.
