The Department of Vascular Surgery at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine is one of the most influential centers for the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases in central Zhejiang, integrating medical care, research, and education. With minimally invasive endovascular techniques at its core, the department has established a modern diagnostic and treatment system covering both arterial and venous diseases. It systematically performs a wide range of vascular surgical procedures, including endovascular repair of aortic diseases, revascularization for lower extremity arterial ischemia, minimally invasive treatment of venous diseases, and the creation and maintenance of hemodialysis access. The department currently has a staff of five physicians, including two with senior professional titles. It operates a specialized ward with 20 beds and performs over 1,500 surgeries annually, having established a stable and distinct technical advantage in the diagnosis and treatment of complex vascular diseases.
Leveraging the hospital’s robust comprehensive capabilities, the Vascular Surgery Department has collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to establish an aortic emergency green channel. This provides a unified treatment model featuring rapid assessment, rapid decision-making, and rapid surgery for critically ill patients with acute aortic dissection, ruptured aortic aneurysms, and other life-threatening conditions, making the department a vital force in the regional management of critical vascular emergencies.
The department drives technological innovations such as complex endovascular minimally invasive reconstruction of the thoracoabdominal aorta, plaque volume reduction for lower extremity arterial occlusion, and same-day minimally invasive surgery for varicose veins, while actively engaging in clinical research and multicenter collaboration. Guided by clinical needs, the department advances scientific innovation to continuously enhance the discipline’s influence. Through more advanced technologies and higher-quality services, we safeguard the vascular health of every patient and keep the pathways of life open.
