The Department of Vascular Surgery is a leading center for the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases in central Zhejiang, integrating clinical care, medical education, and research. With advanced minimally invasive endovascular techniques at its core, the department provides comprehensive, standardized surgical care for the full spectrum of aortic, peripheral arterial, and venous diseases, ranging from life-threatening vascular emergencies to chronic and complex vascular conditions.
The department offers comprehensive subspecialty services, including endovascular repair of aortic diseases, revascularization for lower-extremity arterial occlusive disease, minimally invasive treatment of venous disorders, and the creation and long-term management of hemodialysis vascular access. With more than 1,500 vascular procedures performed annually, the department has developed extensive clinical expertise and strong capabilities in the management of complex vascular diseases.
A dedicated emergency pathway has been established for patients with life-threatening vascular conditions. Through rapid assessment, multidisciplinary decision-making, and timely intervention, the department provides streamlined emergency care for acute aortic dissection, ruptured arterial aneurysms, massive pulmonary embolism, and other critical vascular emergencies.
Guided by the principle of “Minimally Invasive First, Precision-Oriented Care,” the department continues to advance innovative vascular technologies, including total endovascular branched reconstruction for complex aortic disease, arterial plaque debulking for occlusive lesions, and radiofrequency ablation for varicose veins. The department is also developing a regional center for the standardized management of diabetic foot disease.
