Nutrition Department

The Department of Clinical Nutrition at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine was established in August 2015 and currently serves as a comprehensive nutritional therapy center integrating medical care, education, and research. The department’s academic advisor is Professor Zhang Aizhen, who previously served as Chair of the Endocrinology Branch of the Zhejiang Medical Association, Vice President of the Zhejiang Nutrition Society, and Chair of the Maternal and Child Nutrition Professional Committee. The department currently employs four nutrition professionals, including three registered dietitians and one nutrition technician.


The department’s scope of services includes nutritional risk screening, nutritional assessment, nutritional therapy, and nutritional education for both outpatients and inpatients across the hospital. It develops appropriate dietary plans and enteral or parenteral nutritional support regimens tailored to patients’ medical conditions, nutritional status, and nutritional needs. The department operates a public nutrition consultation clinic, providing nutritional guidance to individuals with special nutritional needs (including children, adolescents, pregnant and postpartum women, middle-aged and elderly individuals, and those who are overweight or obese). It also provides nutritional consultations for critically ill and complex cases among inpatients.
