The Department of Emergency Medicine at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, backed by Zhejiang University, was established in October 2015. With the vision of “becoming a brand-name hospital with outstanding specialty care” and the mission of “promoting human health through high-quality integration of medical care, education, and research,” the department upholds the core values of “people-oriented, sincerity and excellence,” and upholding the spirit of saving lives and healing the wounded. Leveraging the hospital’s geographical location, the department integrates the strengths of multiple disciplines—including emergency medicine, internal medicine, surgery, and critical care medicine—to innovatively establish a comprehensive emergency department that integrates internal and external medicine, as well as an integrated emergency trauma care system. The department specializes in cardiopulmonary critical care, comprehensive management of severe trauma, emergency and critical care ultrasound, and extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) support. It features a resuscitation unit equipped with state-of-the-art emergency facilities and possesses robust, integrated trauma care capabilities that cover the entire city and extend to surrounding areas. The department is capable of undertaking emergency rescue and medical support missions for various public health emergencies and serves as the designated hospital for traffic accident trauma care in Yiwu City.
