The Department of Neurology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine is led by Director Zhang Baorong from the Department of Neurology at the Second Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine, with Director Zhao Guohua serving as Executive Director. The department currently comprises 3 chief physicians, 6 associate chief physicians, 4 attending physicians, 3 resident physicians, and 2 postdoctoral researchers. All clinical physicians hold master’s degrees or higher, including 7 with doctoral degrees and 5 who have returned from studying abroad. The department includes two doctoral advisors and three master’s advisors at Zhejiang University, one Zhejiang Provincial High-Level Innovative Talent in Health, and one recipient each from the first, second, and third tiers of the Yiwu “133” Innovative Talent Program. It is responsible for training doctoral, master’s, and undergraduate students at Zhejiang University and serves as a national-level standardized training base for neurology residents. The department offers eight specialized outpatient clinics: Distinguished Physician Clinic, Premium Clinic, Specialist Clinic, General Specialty Clinic, and clinics for stroke, Parkinson’s disease, epilepsy, cognitive impairment, neurogenetic disorders, botulinum toxin therapy, dizziness and headache, and neuroimmunology. It also maintains a team dedicated to thrombolysis and thrombectomy for ischemic stroke. The department specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of various neurological disorders, including: neurological genetic disorders, movement disorders, refractory epilepsy, cerebrovascular diseases, neuroimmunological diseases, neurological infectious diseases, and neurological metabolic and nutritional disorders. The number of outpatient visits and discharges has been growing at a rate of over 20% annually.
