The Department of Neurology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine is a designated key clinical specialty of Zhejiang Province, dedicated to delivering high-precision diagnostic and therapeutic care for neurological disorders. With 96 inpatient beds and over 110,000 outpatient visits per year, we offer eight subspecialty clinics: cerebrovascular diseases, epilepsy, cognitive disorders, neuroimmunology, movement disorders, headache and dizziness, botulinum toxin therapy, and neurogenetic disorders. Our clinical strengths are built on six core pillars:
1) Cerebrovascular Diseases-We provide full-spectrum neurointerventional services, including emergent thrombectomy for acute ischemic stroke, intracranial and extracranial stenting, aneurysm coiling, and embolization for spinal vascular malformations. Our integrated stroke care pathway ensures seamless coordination from emergency triage through rehabilitation.
2) Epilepsy-As a National Level-2 Epilepsy Center, we utilize video-EEG, high-resolution MRI, and comprehensive etiological assessments to guide medication optimization and surgical localization for refractory epilepsy. A dedicated joint clinic addresses fertility concerns in women with epilepsy, ensuring long-term, individualized management.
3) Cognitive Disorders-Recognized as a National Memory Disorders Prevention and Treatment Center, we employ advanced MRI volumetry, neuropsychological batteries, and cerebrospinal fluid biomarkers for early detection of Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia, and related conditions. Our full-cycle “screening-outpatient-inpatient - rehabilitation-follow-up” model enables standardized disease-modifying therapy.
4) Neuroimmunology-For myasthenia gravis, neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder, multiple sclerosis, and autoimmune encephalitis, we offer antibody-guided targeted immunotherapy and sequential regimens, with a strong emphasis on reducing relapse rates and improving long-term functional outcomes.
5) Movement Disorders-Led by an experienced Parkinson’s disease team, we collaborate closely with neurosurgeons to perform precise preoperative deep brain stimulation (DBS) evaluations and postoperative programming. Our integrated “medication-surgery-rehabilitation” approach delivers personalized, multimodal care for Parkinson’s disease and other movement disorders.
6) Headache Center-Accredited in May 2026 as the first national-level Headache Center in central Zhejiang, we partner with pain medicine, radiology, and psychiatry to thoroughly screen secondary headache etiologies and provide standardized, evidence-based treatment for migraine, cluster headache, and other primary headache disorders.
Our top disease areas include cerebral infarction, epilepsy, Parkinson’s disease, dementia, neuroimmune spectrum disorders, and neurogenetic conditions. Signature procedures encompass precision reperfusion for cerebral ischemia, endovascular thrombectomy and revascularization, aneurysm coiling, epileptogenic focus localization, DBS for Parkinson’s disease, and targeted neuroimmune therapies.
Patient-centered care is at the heart of our practice. We are committed to providing comprehensive, coordinated services from the outpatient clinic to inpatient wards, ensuring that every patient receives the highest standard of neurological care.
