Nephrology Department

The Department of Nephrology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine is one of Jinhua City’s outstanding key disciplines. The department comprises a dedicated nephrology ward, a comprehensive outpatient clinic covering all nephrology subspecialties, a hemodialysis center, and a peritoneal dialysis center. It is capable of independently diagnosing and treating various primary and secondary nephritis, refractory nephrotic syndrome, and complex urinary tract infections, as well as conducting genetic testing for hereditary kidney diseases, establishment and maintenance of vascular access for patients with uremia, peritoneal dialysis catheter placement and follow-up, as well as parathyroid transplantation and post-transplant care. The department possesses particularly strong clinical and research capabilities in precision immunotherapy for refractory nephrotic syndrome, the establishment and maintenance of complex vascular access, and multi-organ support therapy for critically ill patients. It has now developed into the largest, most comprehensive, and technologically advanced clinical nephrology specialty in the central and western regions of Zhejiang Province.


Aiming to serve as a center for the diagnosis and treatment of critical and life-threatening conditions as well as complex and rare diseases, the Department of Nephrology at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine is equipped with internationally advanced facilities and staffed by experienced medical professionals. The department offers a range of treatments, including hemodialysis, continuous renal replacement therapy, and plasma exchange, and has successfully treated patients with conditions characterized by high clinical mortality rates, such as anti-GBM nephropathy, severe lupus, hemolytic uremic syndrome, and systemic vasculitis. Through genetic testing, renal biopsies, and the development of non-invasive diagnostic models, the department has successfully improved the clinical diagnosis rate of rare kidney diseases, including Gitelman syndrome, IgG4-related nephropathy, Waldenström’s macroglobulinemia, and anti-GBM nephropathy. Additionally, the Hemodialysis Center will gradually expand its services to include tissue and organ transplantation, becoming the first transplant treatment center in central and western Zhejiang.
