Department of General Practice

The Department of General Practice at the Fourth Affiliated Hospital of Zhejiang University School of Medicine has recently undergone a comprehensive upgrade. Under the hospital’s overall strategic plan, the upgraded department leverages the hospital’s robust academic background and clinical resources. Upholding the core values of “people-oriented, dedicated to excellence,” the department focuses not only on the diagnosis and treatment of diseases but also on health promotion and disease prevention, aiming to provide more comprehensive and efficient healthcare services to patients with sub-health conditions and chronic diseases.

The Department of General Practice boasts a highly qualified medical team comprising senior experts, mid-career and young core physicians, specialized nurses, and health management professionals. The department currently has 19 physicians, including 1 chief physician, 6 associate chief physicians, 5 attending physicians, and 7 resident physicians. The medical team’s subspecialty backgrounds include gastroenterology, geriatrics, endocrinology and metabolism, nephrology, neurology, respiratory and critical care medicine, gynecology, and pediatrics. The department is currently a national-level standardized training base for general practice residents and a key discipline in Jinhua City. It has established a long-term partnership with the University of Alberta in Canada for the “General Practitioner Training Program.” Under the innovative “Three-Hospital-in-One” model, the department implements the “Zhejiang No. 4 Hospital Distinctive Approach” for training general practitioners both domestically and internationally. This initiative cultivates high-quality general practitioners, bridges the gap between hospital, community, and primary-care medical services, and promotes tiered diagnosis and treatment.
