The Clinical Laboratory of the Fourth Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine (ZJU4H), occupies approximately 2,200 square meters and is staffed by nearly 80 professionals, more than half of whom hold master’s or doctoral degrees. The laboratory provides comprehensive services for disease screening, diagnosis, treatment, and clinical monitoring through seven specialized groups: hematology, body fluid analysis, clinical biochemistry, immunology, microbiology, molecular diagnostics, and emergency testing. This multidisciplinary structure enables the laboratory to meet a broad range of routine, specialized, and urgent testing needs. The laboratory is equipped with more than 50 advanced automated instruments and analytical systems, including the KLK ROBO 7 intelligent blood collection management system, the Sysmex automatic hematology analysis system, the STAGO STA R Max automated coagulation analyzer, the HITACHI LABOSPECT 008 automatic biochemical analyzer, the Roche cobas e801 automatic electrochemiluminescence analyzer, the BD flow cytometry analyzer, Roche and ABI real-time quantitative PCR systems, the Waters ACQUITY TQ-XS liquid chromatography–tandem mass spectrometry system (LC-MS/MS), and the Autobio Autof ms1000 Matrix-Assisted Laser Desorption/Ionization Time-of-Flight Mass Spectrometry system (MALDI-TOF MS). The Laboratory Information System (LIS) integrates these systems with the hospital-wide digital platform, ensuring efficient workflows, reliable reporting, and seamless access to clinical data. More than 600 laboratory tests are available. Routine services include complete blood counts, urinalysis, and stool examinations. Biochemical tests cover liver and kidney function, blood glucose, blood lipids, and glycated hemoglobin. The laboratory also provides coagulation testing, tumor marker testing, thyroid function testing, autoantibody testing, bacterial and fungal culture and identification, pharmacogenetic testing, and pathogen antigen, antibody, and nucleic acid testing, among other services. More than four million specimens are processed annually. The laboratory obtained ISO 15189 accreditation in 2017 and has established a comprehensive quality management system to meet the needs of clinicians and patients. By integrating multidisciplinary expertise, advanced analytical technologies, rigorous quality control, and digital information management, the laboratory is committed to delivering accurate, efficient, and high-quality laboratory services to both Chinese and international patients.
